TRAIN THE TRAINER


COURSE DESCRIPTION:    This four-day intensive workshop is primarily intended for the certification of private sector managers and resource personnel as Project Management trainers.   These specialists will receive in-depth instruction on the latest training techniques including the persuasive presentation approach.   Participants will become familiar with the phased approach to Project Management methodology and the related skill building tools.

An organization specific Leader's Guide will be provided for each Trainer to facilitate long-term retention of the program information.   Supplementary handout materials and personal assessment will be supplied by the course instructor, as well as a 3M Presentation Kit© for each participant.



LEARNING OUTCOMES:     As a result of this learning opportunity participants will:

           Understand their role as a "change agent" in the overall strategy for the organization
           Use effective adult andragogy methods in their Project Management instructional techniques
           Recognize situations where a trainer can act as a resource toward having individuals / departments
           reach organizational goals
           Learn coaching techniques which utilize training tools as a method to enhance the
           performance development process
           Experience firsthand the use of case studies and group presentation techniques as a learning aid
           Develop the skill of presenting ideas / concepts in a persuasive manner

DAY ONE

Morning:
   Overview of the Division's Project Management Initiatives
   Adult andragogy methodology
   Learning Styles Analysis Instrumentation

Afternoon:
   Seven steps to Effective Training Seminars
   Motivating your audience to listen
   Delivering your presentations with illustrations that move your participants
   Individual video-taped presentations session

Evening Assignment:
   Project Planning Simulation - a Team Activity


DAY TWO

Morning:
   How to organize yourself for effective training sessions
   Sponsor feedback checklists
   Presenting / Using learning media
- includes lectures, video feedback role playing, discussion leading and case studies

Afternoon:
   Leading meetings / discussions / seminars
   How to handle disruptive behavior in the training room
   Persuasive method of selling your ideas / training within the organization
   The trainers action plan

Evening Assignment:
   Integrated Case Study - a Team Activity


DAY THREE

Morning:
   Walk through Modules 1-4 materials
   Project Management Overview
   Project Management Life Cycle
   Financial and Reporting Standards
   Staffing the Project

Afternoon:
   Video-taped portions of the course using the Leader's Guide
   Group / Instructor Critique

Evening Assignment:
   Graduation Dinner

Morning:
   Walk through Modules 5-8 materials
   Work Breakdown Structure
   Estimating Guidelines
   Scheduling Guidelines
   Control Guidelines
 
   Project Planning Simulation
   Integrated Case Study

Afternoon:
   Same as above
   Trainer's Action Plan
