PROJECT TEAM BUILDING


COURSE DESCRIPTION:    This course is a two-day experiential skill-building program designed to strengthen Project Managers's leadership skills.   Participants will learn concepts and technique for integrating competent individuals into cohesive and results-orientated teams capable of delivering projects that meet quality, time and cost objectives.



LEARNING OUTCOMES:    As a result of this learning opportunity participants will:

   Briefly review of the Project Management Methodology
   Learn the attributes of effective project teams
   Practise utilizing the Myers-Brigs Type Indicator as a model for team bulding
   Develop a recipe for a successful team
   Create a personalized action plan for your project

DURATION:    Two business days
COURSE SIZE:    The ideal / maximum number of participants is 24
PRE-REQUISITES:       Completion of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator© (MBTI)

COURSE CONTENT:

DAY ONE

Morning:
   Deliverables for this session are:
   Review Project Management Phase Methodology
   Assumptions about Quality, Leadership and Teams
   Attributes of Effective Project Teams
   Model for Development of Project Teams
   Identification of the Most Vulnerable Moments in managing a Project and
       what can be done to avoid them

Afternoon:
   Learning to Work Together
 
   An understanding of the MBTI will enable team members to:
   Increase Awareness of their Personal Relating Style
   Enhance Appreciation of Others by Making Constructive Use of Individual Differences
   Reduce Defensiveness
   See that Approaching Problems in Different ways can be Healthy and Productive for the Project


DAY TWO

Morning:
   Learning to Work Together: continued
 
Using the Teams MBTI Type, particpants will learn to Analyze and Identify:
   Team Strengths and Weaknesses
   Communication / Miscommunication Issues
   Managing Change and Transition Issues
   Potential Resistance to the Project Leader
   Impact on Roles and Responsibilities
   Team Problem-Solving Skills

Afternoon:
   Team Development
 
   Deliverables for this session will be:
   A Model of "Stages of Team Growth"
   Recipe for a Successful Team
   Synergistic Problem-Solving Model
   Team Process Model and Diagnostic Tools
   Personalized Action Plans for Participants Home Projects
   A List of Further Readings and Resources

   Question and Answer Period
